    Founded in 1937, the School of Art is named for Lamar Dodd who as a young man in the 1920's traveled from his home in Georgia to New York to be part of the Art Student's League. There he learned from and worked with many of the luminaries of American art. He returned to Georgia to head the Art Department at the University of Georgia from 1939 until his retirement in 1972. Under his leadership, the department grew significantly. The department was renamed the Lamar Dodd School of Art in 1996. Today the School has more than 1000 art majors and the program is housed in 7 different buildings on campus. The school continues to thrive and expand. Plans are now underway for a new multi- million dollar art complex that will include state-of-the- art modern studios, lecture halls, galleries, and a media center. The new building will be located next to the Georgia Museum of Art, the School of Music, and the Performing Arts Center and will house academic and studio programs.

    In 1912 Marquette University acquired the Trinity Hospital Training School for Nursing and the nurses' residence. Quickly following that acquisition the nursing school became a division of higher education at Marquette and graduated 18 nursing students. At that time, Marquette University was the only university in Wisconsin to offer a three-year nursing certificate. In 1936, the College of Nursing became a constituent college of Marquette University with a four-year collegiate program designed by the College's first dean, Dr. Berenice Beck, OSF. The College of Nursing now offers a curriculum leading to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, a Masters of Science in Nursing degree, a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing degree and has a wide array of offerings for those pursuing a career in nursing.     The Graduate School will work with each department to resolve the final status of each student that is in a pending status. The defense and submission of officially approved theses and dissertations must occur by the deadline listed in the Graduate Bulletin. Completion of final course work is typically not known until a day or two prior to the graduation ceremony, so notification of students who are pending course work is not practical. This does not affect doctoral students, who will have completed their course work much earlier, but it does affect master's and certificate students.

We offer coursework in independent travel, Braille, activities of daily living, low vision utilization, use of specialized equipment, and preparation for employment. Each student has an IEP that addresses educational and social needs as well as disability-specific needs. The Functional Skills Program is designed for students with one or more additional handicapping conditions, this curriculum presents materials in small, sequential steps. Each individually designed program focuses on daily living and self-help skills, pre-vocational skills, functional academics, communication and social/leisure-time skills.
