Situated on the main campus of one of the largest and most prestigious research universities in the country, Texas Performing Arts serves The University of Texas at Austin campus and the Austin community at large through a diverse season of world-class fine arts performances, educational activities, and collaborative partnerships. Texas Performing Arts presents an international season of music, theatre, dance, and conversation in our multiple venues, as well as the best in touring Broadway productions and concert attractions. As a university-based arts center we are also committed to serving the academic mission of the College of Fine Arts by supporting the work of our students, faculty and staff on our stages, classrooms, studios and production shops; and in the educational outreach programs we provide for the Austin community.

Located in San Antonio, Texas — Ballet Arts School strives to provide students with a nurturing environment for training in ballet with pointe and partnering, jazz, tap, modern, character, boys ballet, creative movement and pre-ballet. The studio produces an annual recital at the end of the school year. Established in 1973, the studio has been under the ownership/directorship of Judith Clement Gani since 1989.

The Alabama Theatre was built in 1927 by Paramount Studios as an Alabama showcase for Paramount films. It was used primarily as a movie palace for 55 years, with the exception of the annual Miss Alabama pagent and the weekly Mickey Mouse Club. In 1987, the owners of the facility declared bankruptcy and the theatre was purchased by Birmingham Landmarks Inc., a non-profit corporation. The new Alabama Theatre for the Performing Arts hosts many live events, as well as films. Each year the Theatre hosts over 300 events attended by a half million Birmingham area citizens.

Castle Medical Center’s $1 million Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory makes state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment conveniently available to Windward residents. Financed with a $1.5 million grant from the Harold K. L. Castle Foundation, the heart of the new lab is a digital cardiac system with a counterbalanced, ceiling-suspended C-arm that allows the physician complete access to the patient. The system provides high-resolution digital images that can be stored on CD. It permits the physician to rotate and position equipment, review images, and access analytical programs without leaving the patient’s side.
