Grafton Job Corps Career Academy is housed on 75 acres of land that is a small portion of the 1, 200 acres that was once the Grafton State Hospital. The hospital was established in 1901 for what were called, “chronic insane patients”. The hospital was closed in 1973 as the first series of closures in Massachusetts of a number of Insane Asylums. Now the 1, 200 acres are used by Tufts Veterinary School, Grafton Job Corps Career Academy, and other state agencies. A graveyard remains on a nearby hilltop across the street from Grafton Career Academy with 1, 041 numbered, nameless graves of persons who died in the institution. Grafton Career Academy generally goes to the graveyard and cleans it annually of leaves and sticks.

The Family Medicine Center (FMC) was established to provide a source of medical care for members of our community. FMC is also the setting for the Family Medicine Residency Program, which enables a medical school graduate to pursue additional training under the supervision of an experienced, board-certified, family physician. We provide all of the services of a private family physician's office. Families and patients are accepted based upon medical need, as openings become available. Each family or individual is assigned to a licensed physician. Patients typically see the same doctor for one to three years while he or she is in the Family Medicine Residency Program.

The CCRC is the home to the University of Georgia Cancer Center and to four federally designated centers for carbohydrate research: the Department of Energy (DOE)-funded Center for Plant and Microbial Complex Carbohydrates, the National Institutes of Health (NIH)/NCRR Research Resource for Integrated Glycotechnology, the NIH/NCRR Integrated Technology Resource for Biomedical Glycomics, and an NSF Functional Genomics Center: A Monoclonal Antibody Toolkit for Functional Genomics of Plant Cell Walls. As a federal center, the CCRC provides analytical services to scientists in university, government, or industrial laboratories who are interested in complex carbohydrate molecules and offers two one-week, hands-on, laboratory training courses every summer in the techniques used to analyze complex carbohydrates. CCRC faculty members hold joint appointments in the departments of biochemistry and molecular biology, chemistry, plant biology, and plant pathology.

Indigo Mountain Nature Center is a sanctuary for captive born wildlife nestled in the Colorado Rockies. We are a federally recognized non-profit organization dedicated to wildlife education, rescue and the study of animal behavior. During this same period they designed Wildlife Education programs and offered them to local schools, clubs and community organizations. Many believe the Center is set on a mountain top named Indigo. In actuality, the facility is nestled in a peaceful valley at 8, 700’ in elevation. The Center is named in memory of a beautiful wolfdog that taught them the “ways of wolf”. Indigo died in 1998, but she will be forever remembered in our hearts. Indigo Mountain Nature Center, Inc. was established to create public awareness and inspire respect for all wildlife through education, while providing a variety of specialized services to captive born wildlife.

Coastal Harvest Distribution Center (formerly Grays Harbor and Pacific County Distribution Center) distributes over 1 million pounds of food to approximately 40 programs in Grays Harbor, Pacific, Mason, Wahkiakum, Thurston and Lewis Counties. This regional distributor conducts a program with the Department of Fisheries that results in about 200, 000 pounds of salmon fillets for food banks statewide, distributed through Northwest Harvest.

After more than five years serving the Spokane community with just a truck and no warehouse, Northwest Harvest has leased a warehouse in Spokane, to be fully operational in early 2010. Located in the Spokane Valley, the warehouse offers 13, 600 SF of dry storage and two loading docks, one of which will be occupied by a refrigerated trailer. We know a warehouse will improve our level of efficiency significantly.
