Christ the King Lutheran Church of Vestal, NY; a Reconciling in Christ Congregation. Our church's mission is "to bring healing and new life to hurting and hungering people through a growing relationship with Jesus Christ." We are a small to medium size church with aspirations of growing by attracting more young members. Friends Church started in 1995 as a group of 40 people who met in the Ft. Wainwright bowling alley conference room. Today, there are a couple thousand people who gather and call Friends Church their home. At Friends Community Church, we value loving God, loving others and loving the world. Our name comes from John 15:15: “The greatest love a person can show is to die for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you.” That’s our mantra. We believe in being not just believers in, but friends of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

In the fall of 1996 a preschool and daycare program, Guardians Angels, was opened in the St. Bernadette Parish Pastoral Center. There were approximately 25 children enrolled. Due to the enthusiastic interest of parishioners and families in the Metrowest area of the Worcester Diocese, it was determined that Guardian Angels would expand to include grades K-3. In the 1997-1998 academic year the school expanded further to include its present configuration of grades PK3-8 and two buildings were constructed to accommodate an enrollment of 500 students.

On April 3, 1995, a meeting was called by Pastor Charles E. Gibson to organize a ministry in the city of Moreno Valley. Twelve people attended this meeting. The vision of Pastor Gibson was shared at this meeting and was received in a great way. It was decided to lease an industrial building to congregate and to worship. After this was agreed upon a date was set for the first worship service On May 7, 1995, the doors of the Breakthrough Church were opened and as many as One Hundred people come to celebrate the birth of a new and exciting church. As time evolved the ministry began to grow and organize, appointing members to the board of trustees and different auxiliaries. By November of 1995, the church had well grown to over one hundred members and counting. We have a seating capacity of 225 and every week the Church overflows the sanctuary.
