Today our church is an outstanding landmark in downtown Columbia. The 90 foot massive bell tower with the crosses is a constant reminder of the Lord of the Church and our promise to spread the Gospel throughout the community. The west entrance front features a gold highlighted cross set against a soft blue mosaic tile panel. The Chi Rho monogram of Christ is placed over the auxiliary entrances.

We are a caring family of faith, living in Jesus’ love and following Him into the community. Come worship with us on Sundays at 10 a.m., with nursery care and children’s Sunday School provided; adult education is at 9 a.m. You are welcome to come to our free community dinners, served each Monday evening at 6 p.m. Our church is a Christ-centered, Bible-believing part of the Presbyterian Church (USA), and everyone is encouraged to take an active part in church ministry.

The church is governed by the Session, made up of 40 Elders and moderated by its Senior Minister. The church also has a board of 48 Deacons who attend to the material, financial, and practical needs of the church’s ministry. First Presbyterian Church, along with the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Synod, subscribe to the Westminster Confession of Faith and its Larger and Shorter Catechisms.

For more than 40 years, FCC has been home to Pierside Preschool.  Pierside is dedicated to providing a learning environment for the preschool child that is conducive to spiritual, mental, physical, emotional and social growth. Pierside exists to provide a faith-based environment that encourages a child's love for God and awareness of God's love for them. We currently offer a 2 day, 3 day or 5 day program along with extended morning and afternoon programs.

Our deacons organize collections of food and school supplies for needy families. The church also has teams which do home rehabilitation both in the Baltimore area and in Hurricane Katrina devastated Gulf Coast.
