The Berkeley Heights Community Pool was established in 1964 to serve the families of Berkeley Heights. We offer an olympic-size swimming pool featuring two diving boards and two slides. Our shallow end is 2.5 feet deep, perfect for our pre-schoolers learning to swim. We also have a baby pool for our youngest swimmers. Swim and dive teams and lessons, basketball and tennis courts, and tetherball are also on-site. This year we are happy to offer new barbeque grills and refurbushed picnic tables.

In the Big Bend region there are over 2, 500 children receiving In-Home and Out-of-Home services on any given day. Many of these families are coping with domestic violence, delinquent behavior, parental drug and alcohol abuse or mental health problems. When adults are unable to provide children with a healthy home environment, the consequences are enormous. At Big Bend Community Based Care our sole purpose is to provide the highest quality child welfare prevention and intervention services to children and their families within their communities. Our vision is to create local ownership of the child protection system in each of our communities. By doing so, the quality of life for the children and families we serve will dramatically improve and the incidences of child maltreatment will decrease. Every effort is made to help a child remain with his or her family. However, in some cases parental rights must be legally terminated and the child becomes available for adoption.

Sex Offender Treatment Program - Des Moines Office The Department‘s Sex Offender Treatment Program (SOTP) provides supervision and treatment for convicted or pre-trial release sexual offenders. Supervision incorporates the use of designated Warrant Team officers and Electronic Monitoring, which includes the use of Global Positioning System (GPS). Treatment services consist of psychosexual / amenability for treatment evaluations, polygraph assessment, penile plethysmograph (PPG) assessments, as well as cognitive behavioral group, individual and family therapy.

The Business offices provides assistance with Patient Accounts; Charity Applications; Payment Arrangements after patients have been in the hospital. Your surgeon or physician will schedule your appointment with the Ambulartory Surgery Department. When this appointment is scheduled, it will include any Laboratyory or X-Ray studdies requested by your physician, pre-anesthesia information, nursing evaluations, pre-surgical instructions and teaching, and pre-registration with the Admitting Department Please check in at the Admitting Department in the front lobby of the hospital at the time of your Pre-admission appointment. This may be several days before your surgery is scheduled. It is important to bring along a list of any medications you are currently taking. Write down the name of each medication, supplement, nonprescription drug, herbal medicines, and the amount you are taking. At the time of registration, you will need to provide insurance information. The hospital will directly bill Medicare, Medicaid, Champus, Blue Cross and many other insurance carriers if correct and complete information is provided.

If you would like to be a volunteer you need to be at least 15-years-old. Volunteers can work in just about every department of the hospital. Whether it is helping to sort and deliver mail, or walk a patient from the main entrance to the Laboratory every volunteer job is important. Student volunteers can receive credit when coordinated with their high school. Our 2003 Volunteer of the Year, Gordon Edes, pictured at right, is a dedicated member of our team.
