Short profile:
The 911 Cell Phone Bank is an initiative of The Charitable Recycling Foundation, Inc. an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (Tax ID - 20-5050475).
In May of 2004, the 911 Cell Phone Bank was created to provide an ongoing and readily available source of emergency cell phones and funds to meet the unexpected and urgent needs of participating law enforcement and affiliated victims services agencies.
Since then, the 911 Cell Phone Bank has generated hundreds of thousands of dollars and provided thousands of emergency cell phones for victims services organizations nationwide. We have successfully relieved the operational burden of managing a emergency cell phone program from our participants.
Detailed description:
By donating your cell phone you are doing more than just providing emergency communications for someone in need. In addition, you are helping to provide funds that support the activities of law enforcement and victims services organizations nationwide.
The 911 Cell Phone Bank determines best use and maximizes cell phone donations.
* Funds are provided to nonprofit agencies for each donated cell phone (market value, minimum 50 cents), * Each cell phone is added to the “Bank” of available emergency cell phones for law enforcement.
How It Works:
The 911 Cell Phone Bank was created to provide an ongoing and readily available source of 911 cell phones and funds to meet unexpected and urgent needs of participating law enforcement and affiliated victim service agencies. This program makes managing an emergency cell phone program easy and profitable. The Flash below shows how the program works.
Over 1500 law enforcement and affiliated service agencies across the country actively collect cell phones to benefit victims of abuse and seniors in need. Many participants schedule events around special dates relating to victims and seniors.
