Short profile:
The Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of San Diego
is available when you need us – both of our hospitals
have emergency doctors on site 24 hours a day, every day of the year. We are here to provide the
highest level of personalized and compassionate
care for your pet. We understand that your pet
is an important member of your family and
deserves the best possible medical care.
At the Pet Emergency & Specialty Center we strongly believe in an integrated approach to medicine. Our Internal Medicine and Emergency and Critical Care departments work closely with our referring veterinarians to provide optimal care for our patients and clients. Nobody, though, is a bigger fan of this team approach than Charger Oliver and his owners. The six year-old neutered male Maltese poodle was brought into the Pet Emergency & Specialty Center laterally recumbent, depressed and dehydrated.
Detailed description:
The Pet Emergency & Specialty Center (PESC) is designed to function as an extension of the services your family veterinary hospital provides to its clients. Our hospital is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to provide the highest quality of emergency and critical are for our patients.
You may be referred to our hospital for any of the following reasons:
You have an emergency with your pet after your veterinarian's regular office hours.
Your pet needs advanced life support equipment such as continuous oxygen administration, ECG monitoring, drug infusion, or ventilation.
Your pet needs continual critical-care monitoring due to the severity of his or her medical condition.
You prefer that your pet have overnight post-surgical or post-anesthetic monitoring for complications and/or pain management.
Your pet is recovering slowly from surgery or anesthesia and your veterinarian recommends overnight monitoring for his/her safety.
Your pet needs immediate lab tests run to facilitate diagnosis and patient care.
You would like to have an advanced diagnostic procedure such as ultrasound or endoscopy performed.
Your pet requires a surgical procedure when your regular veterinarian is unavailable.
Please note that we do not provide vaccinations or perform routine health procedures at our facility. Our practice is designed to support, not compete with, your regular daytime veterinary hospital. As nearly 40% of clients visiting our facility have not established a relationship with a family veterinarian, we strongly encourage them to do so. We feel this is in their pet’s best interest. Based upon the location of your home, our staff will assist you in selecting a family veterinary hospital if you do not already have one.
We believe that, by working closely with our referring veterinarians, we are able to create a coordinated team of medical professionals, providing patients with the best possible medical care.
