ADDAMO VINEYARD

The Addamo Family, originally from Sicily, Italy, produced wine for their friends and family for many generations. David Addamo was inspired by his parents to farm and produce his own wines, having helped them farm their Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard in Hollister, California when he was a young boy.

When David and his wife, Liz, arrived in Santa Maria Valley, they brought with them the dream of having their own estate vineyard and of producing their own wines. In the year 2000, they planted 120 acres to 6 varietals, including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah and Grenache.

Today, they have successfully launched their Addamo Estate Vineyards brand and produce several critically acclaimed estate wines.

When they are not working at the winery or tasting room, they enjoy developing several other business projects together. Liz and David enjoy spending their "down-time" with their 5 children. Liz, a professional chef, often entertains at their estate house, while David, an avid musician, enjoys playing music with their children. The entire family are motor sports enthusiasts and animal lovers, and care for a menagerie of well-loved pets.

Our estate vineyard is located in the Santa Maria Valley appellation of Santa Barbara County. Located just 10 miles from the Pacific Coast, our vineyard benefits greatly from cool, maritime influences. The long "hang-time" of our estate fruit is due in great part to the temperate climate of this coastal appellation.

Our vineyard was planted methodically and meticulously, with special attention paid to varietals best suited to our terroir. Taking into account the soils at our property, the meso- and micro-climates, the coastal influences and the orientation of the sun upon our hillsides, we deduced that Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Grenache and Syrah are best suited to our estate.

We farm our vineyards sustainably, and our fruit is all hand-harvested and hand-sorted. Currently, we make our wines at our private, state-of-the-art wharehouse facility in Santa Maria, but recently broke ground on our winery, which will be located at our estate vineyard.
