Alabama Artificial Limb & Orthopedic Service, Inc. is the product of a merger of two exceptional companies, Alabama Artificial Limb Company and Orthopedic Service Company of Montgomery, both rich with tradition, experience and family. Operating under one roof has given the company much strength, as patients continue to benefit from more than sixty years of experience and expertise from our practitioners. AAL&OS has added a second full-time facility in Opelika, Alabama, and now specializes in custom, pre-fabricated pedorthic devices, prescription footwear, and post-mastectomy forms and accessories. As the art and science of prosthetics and orthotics has continued to advance, so too has the professionals at AAL&OS, adapting to new technologies and techniques over the last 6 decades.

Detailed description:

Founders, Alfred G. Latimer (Al) and Daniel J. Seals (Joe) built the Company on progressing technologies and personal experience, as Joe had been a below knee amputee since he was eighteen months old. Together, they developed an overall philosophy of Alabama Artificial Limb & Orthopedic Service, Inc, offering a team-related approach to rehabilitation and combining professional services with those of other allied health professionals.

Today, the company is operated by Al's grandson, Glenn Crumpton, C.P.O., C.Ped. He continues to place a high emphasis on continuing education in order to stay at the forefront of the ever-changing world of prosthetics and orthotics.

AAL&OS specializes in orthotics for the lower limbs and feet, the upper limbs and hands, and the entire spine. We utilize new technology such as NASA-inspired lightweight composite materials and unique custom-molded plastics, thus we are able to offer orthotics which are light, comfortable and supply the greatest degree of mobility and function.

Our staff works with the latest tools to provide a wide range of options for fitting patients with the most suitable orthotic devices. Specialized thermoplastics have improved orthotics immensely, because they are lighter and more effective than their traditional metal counterparts. Plastic designs have eliminated maintenance problems that the metal braces commonly had and because they are not as bulky, clothes fit over the devices better or allow patients to interchange their footwear.

AAL&OS also has the capability to utilize the TracerCAD system for orthotics patients requiring body jackets, and lower extremity orthoses, when appropriate. The TracerCAD system is the newest and most sophisticated digital technology available in the field today.
