Your initial acupuncture session begins with a comprehensive consultation and physical examination and is followed by an acupuncture treatment. We schedule 1½ hours for your first visit so we have plenty of time to answer your questions, establish clear treatment objectives and provide you with truly personalized care. At the end of this session we will create a treatment plan appropriate for your situation. This likely will include herbal prescriptions, lifestyle guidance and dietary modifications along with the schedule of treatments you will need to get long lasting results.

Each follow-up treatment lasts approximately one hour. In most cases you will be lying comfortably on a padded table with fresh linen or sitting upright in a padded massage chair. You will be either fully clothed or draped with a sheet or blanket during your treatment.

Sessions begin with a discussion of health status and progress. This information along with Chinese pulse assessment and gentle palpatory techniques will be used to determine your treatment. Once the treatment has begun, you can expect to relax for 20-30 minutes listening to music or enjoying the quiet time. Following this, another series of points may be selected to complete your treatment as you continue to relax.

Many describe feeling revitalized and refreshed after an acupuncture session-as if having slept deeply. Patients also report that they experience being calm and very alert –sometimes lasting for days after treatment. This is a truly wonderful side effect of acupuncture treatment. It is well known that stress relief contributes strongly to health and healing. Once a final assessment is made, the treatment session is concluded.
