ARC THRIFT STORES - HEADQUARTERS

Short profile:

We are all about thrift! The moment you push through the front door of any one of our stores, your heart starts to race and your pulse quickens as you look from side to side and think---let the hunt begin. There’s a treasure lurking on every shelf and rack in the store, and we are here to help you find it. Whether your treasure hunt is for a sofa, a good book, a retro jacket or dishes that remind you of grandma’s house, chances are you’ll find it at Arc Thrift Stores. Your treasure hunt may be as simple as looking for that t-shirt in a color you can’t find anywhere or the frying pan you need for your next camping trip. The treasure hunt is different for everyone, but the best treasure is the one you weren’t looking for! When you shop at Arc Thrift Stores, you have the satisfaction of knowing that your purchases fund advocacy and services for individuals and their families with developmental disabilities.

Detailed description:

It’s shopping with a purpose…everyday. Arc Thrift Stores opened its first location on South Broadway in 1968. Today our stores continue as the fund raising source for the 11 Arc and ACL chapters who provide advocacy to improve the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Through your generous donations, we can operate and expand our stores and offer a greater selection of merchandise. Your donations enable us to employ more people in your community and raise more funds to support the Arc and ACL chapters. Our customers and donors keep us in business. When you no longer need that unwanted but useable vehicle in your driveway or garage, you can donate it to Arc. Our car donation program was started to generate additional funds for the Arc chapters. Cars, boats, motorcycles, and recreational vehicles are all accepted. Did you know we receive millions of pounds of donations every year? However, not all of your generous donations sell in our stores. That’s where our RE-cycling programs kick in. We are one of Colorado’s largest re-cyclers and keep thousands upon thousands of pounds of unwanted, un-saleable merchandise out of land-fills. We believe there is always more life in your donations. Therefore, if clothing, shoes, books, toys, handbags, belts, baseball caps and other items don’t sell, we bundle them up and send to Africa, Asia, India and other countries throughout the world. What a great feeling to know that your donation could allow someone to walk far, and do it with shoes on; or to keep warm with a jacket you no longer need; to cook a meal in a pot you don’t use anymore or play with a soft toy your child has outgrown. We also Recycle scrap metal, cardboard, computers, TVs and cell phones. Even the plastic bags your donations come in are re-cycled.
