The Schmieding Developmental Center provides a unique service to northwest Arkansas. Located in Springdale, the developmental center operates on a transdisciplinary model incorporating clinical professions in the areas of medicine, psychology, behavioral therapy and speech/ language.
Detailed description:
The focus of the developmental center is to provide evaluations for children birth through 18 years of age with developmental concerns (autism, developmental delays and mental retardation), dual diagnoses (learning problems combined with attention problems, anxiety, etc.) and those at high risk due to prematurity or physical/ neurological health issues and injuries. Follow-up in assisting families in locating appropriate treatment resources and providing services as appropriate is also a clinic objective.
The Schmieding Developmental Center also strives to be active in community education and supportive of the development of other clinics and programs that increase the quality of care and services available in Northwest Arkansas. The Schmieding Developmental Clinic is a partnership between University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
