The Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester is a nonprofit corporation serving arts, culture, and education in the ten-county greater Rochester region. Our mission is to strengthen the creative sector through grant programs, constituent services, and special initiatives; and to act as an advocate, planner, and funder, supporting artistic vitality and cultural diversity.
Detailed description:
The Council leads the development of a comprehensive Cultural Development Plan. The most current plan has the following goals:
Goal 1: Create opportunities for artists to serve as valued resources to the culture and economy of the community.
Goal 2: Market to build new audiences.
Goal 3: Build collaborations between arts and community development.
Goal 4: Make the arts basic to education.
Goal 5: Strengthen the economic base of the cultural industry through new revenue development.
Goal 6: Create change in the public's perception of the arts
Membership in the Arts Council gives you access to vital resources and connects you to a vibrant cultural community. Our membership of over 1, 000 includes artists, cultural organizations and businesses, and encompasses a broad range of individuals and organizations – from the emerging to the well established.
Membership in the Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester supports a number of our industry-wide initiatives. Your participation helps strengthen our advocacy efforts with local, state and federal officials, along with corporate and foundation funders and policymakers. Your membership also supports planning and research conducted by the Arts Council – useful in communicating the value of the arts to a variety of audiences. Your active involvement is critical to our work on behalf of the cultural community.
