The Consulate carries out a number of functions in pursuit of the Australian Government's goals. Its location in Century City provides a gateway to doing business in the United States. Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is the primary entry and departure point for the majority of Australians travelling to the USA and for tourists and business visitors travelling to Australia.

Detailed description:

The Consulate's region of jurisdiction covers the States of Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Clark County in Nevada that includes Las Vegas, and southern California below 36 N. An estimated 19, 000 Australians reside in the region.

AusFILM, a partnership with the Australian Trade Commission, has a presence in the Australian Consulate-General in Los Angeles and promotes Australia as a production destination for US film studios and producers.

Passport and Consular Services: The Consulate, throughout its region of jurisdiction, protects the interests of Australians and issues and renews passports for them. If you wish to have your new passport sent to you by Federal Express, you will need to pay an additional USD15 (for up to four passports to the one address). If you prefer, you can provide a prepaid letter-sized envelope with the courier company of your choice.
