BARNES GROMATZKY & KOSAREK ARCHITECTS INC.

Short profile:

Barnes Gromatzky Kosarek Architects has always been motivated by opportunities

to positively contribute to the lives of people, especially in large numbers. Projects

like The University of Texas' Almetris Duren Residence Hall, City of Austin's Palmer

Events Center, Texas A&M University's Campus Master Plan, and over 20 buildings

for the Texas School for the Deaf attest to the firm's commitment to people and the

broader social context. From sustainable architecture and master planning to

award-winning civic and academic projects, BGKA continually strives to improve

the world we live in through high-quality, well-crafted buildings and master plans.

Through decades of experience with publicly-funded civic, government, and

academic projects, Barnes Gromatzky Kosarek Architects has developed a wide

variety of techniques for encouraging and guiding stakeholder participation.

Our inclusive approach ensures that ideas from all parties receive ample

consideration in an open forum, and that the best ideas can be identified

and explored. Participants engaged in this collaborative activity gain appreciation

for the design process, an understanding for how the project will look and

function, and a sense of their own personal contribution.

Barnes Gromatzky Kosarek Architects prefers to be known for projects that fit in

exceptionally well with their surroundings rather than any specific "style" of design.

For example, while Almetris Duren Residence Hall is entirely appropriate to The

University of Texas at Austin campus, it bears no resemblance to Bay Hall Classroom

Building, which looks like it belongs on the Texas A&M Corpus Christi campus.

BGKA works with clients and stakeholders to design in ways that reflect the broader

physical, historical, and cultural context of each individual project. This process

helps ensure that buildings and master plans are as remarkable and appropriate

decades later as they are upon completion.
