Short profile:

Bert Hartsfield – has served as Leon County Property Appraiser since November 1992. The Leon County Property Appraiser’s office currently manages and certifies property values and exemptions for over 107, 000 parcels totaling close to 27 billion dollars in just value and 15 billion dollars in taxable value annually.

Office Hours: 8am - 5pm, Monday through Friday

Over my years of service, I have also worked with both local officials and the Florida Legislature to better serve the citizens of our community.

Part of that mission involves assisting the public (citizens, taxing authorities, and local government) in accessing and utilizing the tremendous real estate database, maps, and other associated information which we maintain and update.

Office Hours:

8am - 5pm, Monday through Friday

Detailed description:

Mr. Hartsfield attended all local schools Florida High, TCC and FSU - and holds the professional designation of Certified Florida Appraiser, CFA. His personal resume reveals a long family history of strong, personal core values regarding public service in this community. His office has received two awards from the International Association of Assessing Officers the Public Information Award, and the Distinguished Assessment Jurisdiction Award.

The primary mission of the Leon County Property Appraiser's Office is to locate, identify, and appraise (at current market value), all property subject to ad valorem taxes, maintain market value equity on the tax roll, and administer all exemptions in accordance with Florida Statutes and the Rules and Regulations of the Florida Department of Revenue.

This office works continuously to improve our work product and serve the citizens of Leon County in the most professional and cost-efficient manner possible. To that end, we have established 24 hour access to the public records of this office through the internet, convenient satellite filing locations for Homestead Exemption applications as well as Saturday and after-hours availability, a comprehensive review of agricultural properties, and downloadable, online forms to eliminate the need for a trip to our office.
