Detailed description:
The Blood and Marrow Transplant Program at Northside Hospital is one of the largest clinical transplant programs in the Southeast United States, serving patients undergoing bone marrow/stem cell transplant therapy and providing primary leukemia treatment. Our program has received National Center of Excellence Awards by major insurance companies and is nationally accredited by the following organizations:
National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP).
Foundation for Accreditation of Cellular Therapies (FACT).
American Association of Blood Banks (AABB).
The Blood and Marrow Transplant Program is conveniently located adjacent to Northside Hospital on Peachtree Dunwoody Road. We are open 7 days a week from 7am to 5pm.
A referring physician may contact the Blood and Marrow Transplant and Leukemia Programs to either discuss a potential referral with a physician, arrange a consultation or arrange for a hospital transfer.
The transplant and leukemia coordinators will facilitate the consultation process with the referring physician's office and the patient. The patient and family will be sent educational information in advance of the scheduled appointment.
Following the comprehensive consultation, a treatment recommendation will be reviewed with the referring physician. Acute leukemia patients can be set up for a direct admission to the inpatient unit or a hospital transfer seven days a week.
The BMT Program is nationally accredited for performing autologous, allogeneic, matched unrelated donor and cord blood transplantation by the Foundation for Accreditation of Cellular Therapy(FACT), which is the primary organization that accredits BMT programs in the United states. The program is also accredited by the American Association of Blood Banking(AABB) and the National Marrow Donor Program(NMDP). Our program has received many accolades including national Center of Excellence recognition from the health care insurance industry.
