The scope of family practice is wide and includes the following:

Pediatrics & well child care, Adult preventive medicine, Management of chronic disease, Cancer screening, Obstetrics, Geriatrics, Dermatology, Sports medicine & common orthopedic problems.

Gastroenterology is the study of disorders of the digestive system.

The following are some of the areas that are covered in the Gastroenterology department:

Colon cancer screening; Diseases of digestion; Diseases of esophagus; Diseases of the liver; Diseases of the gallbladder; Diseases of the biliary tree; Diseases of the pancreas; Traditional and “camera pill” endoscopy.

The physicians who represent the Department of Surgery at the Boulder Medical Center are all certified by the American Board of Surgery.

The surgeon who has attained Certification has specialized knowledge and skill related to the diagnosis, preoperative, operative and postoperative management of surgical problems in the following areas:

Alimentary Tract: esophagus, stomach, small bowel, large bowel, abdomen and its contents, diaphragm, biliary tract, liver, pancreas, spleen and hernias; Breast: benign and malignant diseases; Surgical Oncology: including coordinated management of the cancer patient; Endocrine: thyroid and parathyroid glands, the pancreas and adrenal glands; Robotic & Minimally Invasive Surgery; Trauma: comprehensive management of the injured patient; Thoracic Surgery including the management of benign and malignant conditions of the lungs and chest.

The Obstetrics and Gynecology department at BMC Avista campus and BMC Foothills campus provides comprehensive obstetrical and gynecologic services.

The department at Avista BMC consists of three obstetrician/gynecologists and one physician assistant. The department at Foothills BMC consists of five obstetrician/gynecologists and two physicians limiting their practice to gynecology. They are assisted by an experienced team of nurses and receptionists.

Four pediatricians work in our Louisville branch and seven work in our Boulder Foothills facility. Pediatricians are available for appointments five days a week and Saturday mornings. A pediatrician is on call 24 hours a day for consultation.
