Short profile:

The Washington office was the first office Bryan Cave opened outside of St. Louis. The office was established nearly 30 years ago. As a result of the 2009 combination with Powell Goldstein, we now have more than 70 lawyers who specialize primarily in federal regulatory law, including antitrust and U.S. trade regulation, international trade regulation and election law; securities regulation and enforcement; white collar criminal defense; litigation; corporate governance, finance and transactions; health care, tax and estate planning.

Detailed description:

In providing services to our clients, our lawyers have ready access to the skills and experience of Bryan Cave Strategies, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bryan Cave LLP. Founded in 2005, Bryan Cave Strategies works closely with our election law practice and all of our offices to provide government relations and strategic counsel to corporations, trade associations and non-pro¿t organizations.

Litigators in the Washington office represent U.S.- and foreign-based companies and other clients before arbitrators, federal and state courts, regulatory agencies and the International Trade Commission in commercial disputes. They also coordinate defense of investigations and claims arising under antitrust, employment, environmental, export control, intellectual property, securities and unfair trade laws and regulations. Our business lawyers advise public and private companies and financial institutions in connection with a wide range of business activities, including advertising, debt and equity financing, compliance with anti-money laundering, bank secrecy, privacy, securities and other laws and regulations, mergers and acquisitions.

A number of Bryan Cave lawyers in the Washington office previously held high-level positions in the federal government, including the Commerce Department, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Election Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, the Treasury Department, the Justice Department, the National Security Agency and major Senate and House committees.
