The California Healthcare Institute (CHI) was founded in 1993 as an independent organization devoted to researching and advocating policy to forward the interests of California’s biomedical community.

CHI has built a membership of over 250 leading biomedical companies, academic and research institutions and companies involved in supporting the biomedical community.

The mission of the California Healthcare Institute is to research, develop, and advocate policies and actions that promote biomedical science, biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical device innovation in California.

Create a favorable environment for the state's biomedical and healthcare technology community to discover, produce, and deliver products that benefit society.

Provide a forum to identify, analyze, and develop positions on public policy issues that affect California's biomedical and healthcare technology interest.

Conduct research as a basis for advocating responsible state and federal policies.

Communicate to public officials, providers, patients, and the general public the value of the state's healthcare technology community for the health and economic well-being of our nation's citizens and the economic growth of California.

Identify and communicate the value of the products of healthcare technology with regard to cost, benefit, and patients' quality of life.
