Detailed description:
With facilities in Cambridge, MD, Modesto CA, Matamoras, Mexico, San Paulo, Brazil and joint ventures in Australia and Germany, the company provides industrial products and services worldwide.
Working with an applications based approach for Cambridge International's industrial clients provided a great springboard for the growth of the architectural division. Many of the concepts associated with architectural mesh fatzade products that incorporate metal fabric panels have been taken from the knowledge gained in operating the industrial divisions. Building tension systems are not far removed from metal fabric process belts installed under tension, running 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in an oven for an industrial application. Cambridge International began manufacturing rigid architectural panels, as a product variation of wire cloth manufacturing, in the mid 1960's for decorative wall cladding. Cambridge International continues to manufacture these products today.
Architectural mesh façade products installed in tensile structures made of metal fabric were originally established in Europe by European-based competitors of Cambridge International. As the industrial manufacturer markets began to decline in Europe in the mid to late 1990's, many of these manufacturers were looking for alternative markets for their products. New trends in building design and a constant push from the design community for new products provided ideal timing. As these new European building design trends began to gain momentum in the U.S., Cambridge International formally established the architectural division in 2002, and quickly added flexible metal fabric products to their offering.
The architectural division of Cambridge International, Cambridge Architectural, is currently the domestic leader in architectural mesh façades used in building tension systems that incorporate woven metal fabric.
