Short profile:

CICI was founded in 1951 with 16 members. Currently, there are 209 members representing over 700 facilities in Illinois. CICI members employ over 50, 000 people in Illinois.

The Council consists of regular members, affiliate members and associate members. Regular members are companies which are engaged in the manufacture, blending, distribution and sale of beneficial chemicals. Affiliate members are those companies which provide transportation, equipment or supplies to the chemical industry. Associate members provide legal, environmental consulting and engineering services.

Detailed description:

The Chemical Industry Council of Illinois (CICI) is a statewide trade association whose goals are to ensure the viability and promote the interests of the chemical industry by:

• Gaining public acceptance and understanding through the communication of the objectives and beneficial contributions of the chemical industry

• Ensuring that public policies and programs are mutually beneficial to the citizens of Illinois and the chemical industry through the provision of leadership, information and service

• Inspiring and encouraging students' and educators' interest in chemistry and the sciences.

• Attracting and uniting a sufficient number of member companies to support CICI.
