Short profile:
Crosstown Animal Hospital is open from 9 in the morning to 5 in the evening on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. We are open 9 to 12 in the morning on Wednesdays. We are closed on Federal holidays and Easter. In order to minimize waiting in our 'waiting room, ' doctor's hours are by appointment.
Detailed description:
Examinations and consultations with clients are performed in our exam room. A thorough physical exam includes:
Recording the patient's current weight and temperature, as well as the patient's cardiac and respiratory rates.
Examination of the eyes, ears, nose, and throat.
Examination of the skin.
Cardiovascular and respiratory examinations.
Abdominal palpation for evaluation of internal organs.
Palpation to evaluate the lymph nodes and possible subcutaneous abnormalities.
Musculoskeletal examination.
A behavioral assessment.
In our treatment room we perform examinations and administer treatments and medications to hospitalized animals. Patients are anesthetized and prepared for surgery prior to being transported into the surgery room. Laboratory procedures are also performed here. We have in-house laboratory capabilities for critical determinations such as blood gases, acid-base, and electrolytes.
Surgeries are performed in an aseptic, dedicated surgery room with a heated surgical table. Inhalant anesthesia (isoflurane) is used for all surgeries. Careful attention is paid to pain management, so that recoveries are as comfortable and safe as possible. Medetimonide, ketamine CRI, buprenorphine, morphine, butorphanol, fentanyl, and deracoxib are all employed in balanced, pain-control protocols tailored to the individual needs of our patients.
Crosstown Animal Hospital provides all standard radiographic services. In addition, ultrasound is available by appointment.
Crosstown Animal Hospital is a large facility, and our canine and feline guests are housed in comfortable, spacious conditions. Cats are kept separate from dogs, and boarders are provided three-story condos. Dogs are provided large kennels and are walked at least twice daily in an enclosed yard. Unless our clients request otherwise, patients and boarders are fed Iams or Science Diet.
