The DAU Los Angeles Center is located in El Segundo, California, near many space industry communities. It serves the Los Angeles Air Force Base, which is DAU's major targeted Defense Acquisition Workforce population. Los Angeles Air Force Base supports the Air Force Space Command, headquartered at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado.

In support of the DAU mission as depicted by the Performance Learning Model (PLM), DAU Mission Assistance (MA) ensures the right people are available to provide the right products and services at the right time in response to requests for support by the Defense Acquisition Workforce and other DAU customers. DAU provides practical, rapidly delivered business solutions offered to students and their organizations.

The university provides a full range of basic, intermediate, and advanced certification training, assignment-specific training, applied research, and continuous learning opportunities. The university also fosters professional development through mission assistance, rapid-deployment training on emerging acquisition initiatives, online knowledge-sharing tools, and continuous learning modules.
