Short profile:

If you have diabetes, a condition where your pancreas produces little or no insulin, you have a greater chance of developing skin disorders. Estimates suggest that one third of people living with diabetes will develop some problems with their skin at some point. Sometimes diabetics develop infections and skin problems that the average person could have and in other cases, the skin conditions appear only in people with diabetes.

Diabetes-related skin conditions include the following:

Acanthosis Nigricans; Diabetic Blisters; Diabetic Dermopathy; Digital Sclerosis, Disseminated Granuloma Annulare, Eruptive Xanthomatosis, Necrobiosis Lipoidica Diabeticorum, Vitiligo.

Detailed description:

Photo Rejuvenation combats skin damage and aging by delivering a series of light pulses to the skin through a special hand-piece. This intense light passes through special filters. The targeted skin absorbs the light energy, which stimulates the production of collagen. Treatments only take between 15 to 30 minutes at the doctor's office, depending on the amount of areas that need to be treated. To achieve optimal results, a series of five to eight treatments is recommended depending on the severity of the area. Unlike many other rejuvenation skin treatments, Photo Rejuvenation requires absolutely no down time. Side effects are minimal - some patients may experience mild flushing, redness or bruising. This is temporary, and soon disappears.

Dark circles under the eyes (also known as raccoon eyes or shiners), is a common problem faced particularly by fair-skinned people. When red blood cells are released from burst capillaries, they are broken down by enzymes. The broken down red blood cells have a dark blue-black color which makes dark circles appear more prominent.

There are a number of treatments available for dark under eye circles:

Chemical peels; Over-the-counter topical creams; Collagen injections to fill the sunken areas under the eyes.

Fat grafting; Laser treatment to reduce the number of dilated capillaries under the eyes.
