At the Suncoast Lung Center, Dr. Howard Diener (Board Certified Pulmonologist) offers residents of Sarasota years of community and academic experience in treating diseases of the lung. Patients are offered state-of-the-art diagnostic and management services for all diseases affecting the lungs. Pulmonary function testing and chest x-rays are available in the office and complex imaging studies and bronchoscopy procedures are performed at affiliated hospitals. Consultation is also available for patients with sleep apnea. A personalized approach to patient care is emphasized and patients are encouraged to become actively involved in the management of their illness. Patient education, development of self-management skills, and preventive care are prioritized and complement diagnostic and therapeutic interventions offered at Suncoast Lung Center.

Detailed description:

Dr. Diener is originally from the Washington, D.C. area. He attended the George Washington University undergraduate program, majoring in Biology and English Literature. He continued his education at the George Washington University School of Medicine receiving his MD degree in 1980. He completed his Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio and and specialty fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He relocated to Sarasota Florida in 1987 and founded the Suncoast Lung Center to provide comprehensive Pulmonary and Critical Care services to the residents of Sarasota and surrounding communities. Hospital affiliations include: Sarasota Memorial Hospital, HCA Doctors Hospital; Consulting Physician, Ridgelake Long Term Acute Care Hospital; Consulting Physician HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital. Dr. Diener maintains certification with the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialty certifications in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, a Fellow of the Society of Critical Care Physicians, and a member of the American College of Physicians. He is an active member of the Sarasota County Medical Society and is President of the Pulmonary Council at Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
