The medical specialty of the Women's Health Alliance, previously known as Durham Women's Clinic, includes Women's Health, Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Our concern is your good health which is a product of the interaction among all the systems of your body, not just the reproductive organs. This is why your first visit includes a complete medical history and physical exam. It not only serves to detect associated or unsuspected illnesses, but serves as a baseline for future examinations.

In spite of the fact that obstetrics and gynecology is technically a specific medicine, it has in recent years become known as a 'primary care specialty' which means that many women consider their obstetrician/gynecologist as their main physician. Thus, if problems occur that are outside our particular range of care, we will work closely with internists, psychiatrists, general surgeons, etc. to provide appropriate treatment and consultation for you. In such cases we actively pursue any follow-up care that is necessary. We also place particular emphasis on preventative medicine to help you learn better ways to take care of yourself.
