Short profile:

ESSA Bank & Trust is participating in the FDIC’s Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Under that program, through June 30, 2010, all noninterest-bearing transaction accounts and all interest-bearing transaction accounts with rates no higher than 0.50% are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account. Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC’s general deposit insurance rules.

Detailed description:

Where funds are swept or transferred from a noninterest-bearing transaction account to an interest-bearing savings account where the interest rate is no higher than before the sweep, the swept funds will continue to be protected under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program.

So, when you consider the combined strength and stability of our bank with the backing of the federal government, you know your money is safe and you know we're ready to lend. Our business practices have withstood the test of time, and it's business as usual at ESSA Bank & Trust.

Effectively managing risk has always been one of the major areas that differentiate us as a safe and stable bank. We've steered clear of business practices that led to the sub-prime mortgage crisis in other financial institutions, and we've maintained good credit quality. That's because we take the time to know our customers and employ sound underwriting standards. We typically keep the loans we write and service them locally. It's a good, old-fashioned way of doing business.

What's more, capital is the lifeblood of a financial institution. And at ESSA, we continue to be well capitalized. As a result, we have money to lend individuals and businesses right now. In fact, we currently have great rates available on home equity loans, mortgages and business loans.
