Detailed description:

Easter Seals Nevada makes much needed respite care possible for the families of individuals with disabilities using a simple voucher-reimbursement system. An approved family receives vouchers from Easter Seals for a specified dollar amount; it is the responsibility of the family to locate and arrange for services. Unlike other respite programs; however, the Easter Seals respite program does not limit the family to use services only from licensed respite care providers. The family may choose anyone they wish to provide the respite care including family, neighbors or day care facilities. After services are received, the family submits the voucher and proof of services to Easter Seals for reimbursement. In collaboration with respite providers in northern and rural Nevada, the Easter Seals voucher reimbursement program is now available statewide. The voucher-reimbursement program is open to families of a person with a disability, as long as respite services are not being provided for the family already through another program. Applicants who are currently on the Desert Regional Center waiting list and are not yet receiving services are considered eligible for the Easter Seals Nevada voucher-reimbursement program. Easter Seals Nevada will mail out an intake form upon request to an interested applicant. The applicant must complete the form, attaching formal documentation of the disability (e.g. Individual Education Plan or Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation certification or doctor's statement) and return to Easter Seals. Once an application has been approved, services may begin immediately.
