Short profile:
Work Services Hours: M-F 8:30am-3pm. Recovery Adult Day Healthcare Program Hours: M-F 9am-3pm. Aquatics Hours: M-F 7am-6:30pm, Saturday 8am-1pm. Established in 1992, improved efficiency and high quality client services were the primary motivating factors for merging the Easter Seals of Sacramento, Stockton and Yuba into one agency, Easter Seals Superior California. From the moment the merger was consummated; the consolidated administrative functions translated into reduced expenses and instantly released more resources to address client needs. Furthermore, donated resources were maximized to their full potential, and ultimately, more funds were diverted to client services. The common denominators throughout our history are Rotary involvement, dedicated volunteer service, commitment to the Easter Seals mission, influential staff, delivery of quality services, and a belief that all people with disabilities will have equal opportunity to live, learn, work and play in their communities.
Detailed description:
Easter Seals Superior California serves a number of children in our Pediatric Clinic, many who live with the mental disorder, autism. We believe that a general description of autism and the children who live day-to-day with this disorder would help give you, our supporters, a better look into the world of services offered by Easter Seals. Services: Warm water therapy is specialized therapeutic service provided by a physical or occupational therapist within a warm water therapy pool environment. The warm water environment, which is usually kept between 91-94 degrees, allows therapists to use the properties of water, such as temperature, buoyancy, hydrostatic pressure, and resistance for therapeutic purposes. Warm water therapy assists in increasing mobility, circulation and range of motion, while decreasing high muscle tone. Many children respond very well to the warm water and enjoy the fun, therapeutic environment. Work Services: Adults with disabilities looking for meaningful employment find training and career opportunities through Easter Seals job training and employment services. Easter Seals staff help people identify their employment goals and structure job training programs to meet these personal goals. The Work Center at Easter Seals provides paid work opportunities and vocational training for adults with disabilities. Our focus is to teach individuals vocational skills and appropriate work behaviors. The Help to Recovery Adult Day Healthcare Program (HTR) is a full-time rehabilitation program for adults who have sustained either an acquired or traumatic brain injury. Our program is licensed by the California Department of Aging. The overall goal of the program is to increase the participant’s current level of function and improve his/her level of independence. Services are offered through a multidisciplinary approach and include Nursing, Medical Social Work, Activities, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Nutrition.
