EASTER SEALS UCP - CHARLOTTE EMPLOYMENT, FOSTER CARE & FAMILY SERVICES

Our employment services help individuals with disabilities identify career interests and skills, and match them with meaningful, competitive jobs with community employers. Employment services include job coaching & training, long term vocational support, and vocational day supports. Easter Seals UCP's supported employment enables people with disabilities to not only earn a sustainable wage and/or volunteer their talents, but also give back to their communities. We provide one-on-one assistance at a person's job site to help develop skills and build supportive relationships with co-workers and employers.

Providing learning, safe and loving family systems is the goal of Easter Seals UCP's therapeutic & family foster care program. Families are trained and supported to provide nurturing family environments to children and adolescents needing out-of-home placement. The program focuses on and supports the strengths and abilities of children and their families. The placement of children in therapeutic foster care requires therapeutic support from the foster parents and the Easter Seals UCP team to ensure the success of the child. Professionally trained therapeutic foster parents and respite providers work intensively with the child on independent living skills, conflict resolution, healthy self-images and appropriate interpersonal relationships. Children needing therapeutic foster care come from a variety of circumstances and experiences in their lives, but have a common need for temporary care outside their permanent residence. Shared parenting and family reunification skills are developed for a successful return to family systems when possible. Additionally, Easter Seals UCP can support adoption of children who have been placed for care in our licensed homes when reunification with their birth families is no longer an option.
