Our facility, designed solely for the provision of specialized rehabilitative care, is the only freestanding acute rehabilitation hospital serving southern New Mexico. Our hospital provides rehabilitative services for patients with functional deficits as a result of debilitating illnesses or injuries. Through our inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs, we help patients recover quickly and return home with a renewed sense of self-sufficiency.

The staff at Rehabilitation Hospital of Southern New Mexico (RHSNM) believes that therapy is not just physical – it is also a very emotional experience. RHSNM provides comprehensive physical medicine and rehabilitation services to patients with functional deficits resulting from injury or illness.

Inpatient services include acute rehabilitation, nursing care and medical management for patients suffering functional deficits resulting from illness or injury such as the following: Stroke (CVA); Spinal cord injury; Amputation; Major multiple trauma; Fracture of femur, Brain injury; Neurological disorders; Active polyarthritis or severe or advanced osteoarthritis; Knee and/or hip joint replacement; Orthopedic dysfunction. Outpatient services include physical, occupational, and speech therapy. The following specialized programs will be offered, as well as additional programs as needs are identified: Aquatic Therapy; Arthritis Program; Lymphedema Treatment Program; Neurological Rehabilitation; Orthopedic Rehabilitation. Stroke and other neurological patients can now regain lost mobility and achieve greater independence through treatment options that include the Bioness NESS H200 Hand Rehabilitation System and NESS L300 Foot Drop System. The innovative functional electrical stimulation (FES) systems help patients recovering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy and incomplete spinal cord injury regain muscle control, giving them more function, more freedom, more life.
