Thrift Store Hours: Monday-Saturday 10-5. The Arc of the Lake Serving the Lake of the Ozarks and Supporting individuals with disabilities. Benefiting people with disabilities in the counties of Camden, Miller and Morgan, The Arc of the Lake strives to promote community inclusion for all people regardless of disability. Services Provided: Community inclusion through employment training and job skills; Resources for parents and self-advocates; Advocacy; Disability related speakers; Special events. The Arc believes that every child should have a goal of full inclusion in a general education classroom. The Arc also believes that young adults with disabilities should be encouraged to further their education after high school. The Arc believes that people should be able to live in the home of their choice and be provided the support necessary to live as independently as possible.

Detailed description:

The Arc believes that community awareness is the key to promoting tolerance of diversity and inclusion. The Arc believes that young adults with disabilities should begin preparing for their transition into the community as early as possible. The Arc believes in encouraging all organizations to play an active part in supporting the needs of disabled individuals. The Arc believes that community awareness is the key to promoting tolerance of diversity and inclusion. The Arc believes in encouraging faith based organizations to play an active part in supporting the needs of disabled individuals. The Arc believes that people should be able to work in competitive employment for fair wages regardless of disability. In order to help facilitate this, Thrifty Threads and Things provides opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities to volunteer in our shop. Through this work, our volunteers are able to make a valuable contribution to our community, develop job skills, and form meaningful relationships within the lake community. It is our hope that with the help of businesses and individuals within the lake area, we can help fulfill the employment dreams of many individuals with developmental disabilities in Miller, Morgan, and Camden counties. As our revenues increase, we hope to hire several individuals with developmental disabilities to fill job openings within our store. In addition, revenues generated will support more programs for individuals and families with developmental disabilities. We dream of meeting such needs as one time funding for special equipment, recreational opportunities, respite services, and so much more. We hope you will join us in fulfilling our mission.
