On an international level, Wal-Mart is present in as many as 14 foreign countries: there are 4, 081 stores and 664, 000 workers. The first three Supercenters in Canada opened in 2006 in Aurora, Hamilton and London, Ontario. The 100th one opened in 2010, in Victoria, BC.

Wal-Mart in Canada is present now at over 300 locations (of which 100 are Supercenters) and has its local headquarter in Mississauga, Ontario. Asda, Wal-Mart’s UK subsidiary in 2006 accounted 42.7% of the sales on the international level. Asda primarily operates as a grocery chain, but in comparison with the most UK supermarkets, it focuses more on non-food items.

At the present time, Asda compromises 345 stores (former Woolco stores as well operated by the UK division of FW Woolworth). The stores are are named Asda Wal-Mart Supercentres, as well as and Asda Essentials stores, Asda Living, Asda Supermarkets, and George High Street.
