The Libsong International Association (LIA) is a nonprofit corporation duly organized under the laws of the State of South Carolina on May 3rd, 2002. This nonprofit corporation was founded last December 18, 2000 by Frank and Lydia Bautista of Goose Creek, South Carolina. Unique and interesting in a sense that while members are residing in different places around the world they become united for a common objective through the Internet and correspondence. Its members are present residents of Libsong and those former residents who several years ago left its beloved barrio in search for a better life and opportunities abroad. LIA was formed to undertake projects beneficial to the school children in Libsong and the community as well. LIA's purpose is to spread goodwill and establish an outreach program that will provide voluntary assistance and support to the Libsong Elementary School and the Libsong community in general.

In 1912 Marquette University acquired the Trinity Hospital Training School for Nursing and the nurses' residence. Quickly following that acquisition the nursing school became a division of higher education at Marquette and graduated 18 nursing students. At that time, Marquette University was the only university in Wisconsin to offer a three-year nursing certificate. In 1936, the College of Nursing became a constituent college of Marquette University with a four-year collegiate program designed by the College's first dean, Dr. Berenice Beck, OSF. The College of Nursing now offers a curriculum leading to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, a Masters of Science in Nursing degree, a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing degree and has a wide array of offerings for those pursuing a career in nursing. To date, over 6, 500 people have graduated from Marquette's nursing programs.
