Its rapid expansion during the 1980s enabled it to extend its service to all federal judges in the seven states of the 8th Circuit. As the library moves into the next decade and a new century, it will continue this mission, continually seeking ways to contribute to the administration of justice by facilitating the work of the judges and their staffs. Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday

The ancient Greek scientist and philosopher Aristotle proclaimed politics “the queen of sciences.” Politics comes first, he said, because it orders and arranges other activities. It is how a city, a country, or a world decides what is important to do now and what can wait. Consequently, politics is as new as today’s headlines and as old as civilization itself. Political science studies politics wherever it occurs: in city council chambers, in Congress, in the corridors of the White House, and in the conference halls of international summit meetings. Even personal relationships in the work place and at home turn out to have political dimensions that interest political scientists.

For over 30 years we have been honored to be the first choice for backyard courts, greens, gymnasium flooring and athletic equipment. In today's competitive climate, it is more important than ever to make sure you make the right choice of who will be here next year and 20 years from now to service what they sell! Sport Court will be here and we are thrilled that you are giving us a chance to work with you. Whether it is in your backyard or home gym, school athletic facility, University or Boys and Girls club, we have the high performance athletic flooring and equipment that help reduce injuries.

The library for the 8th Circuit began as a one-person operation in 1896. In 1948 Congress authorized all circuits to hire librarians. In 1971 the 8th Circuit hired its first professionally-trained librarian. The staff was expanded a few years later to include a clerical assistant and a library assistant. Over the years the growth of the library paralleled that of the Judiciary. As the caseload and number of judges increased, so did the body of law, the number of legal research resources, and consequently the library staff. We now have one headquarters library in St. Louis and nine branch libraries located throughout the Circuit
