For over 50 years, Sutter Gould has practiced a philosophy of care that emphasizes knowledge as the key to making informed healthcare decisions. Helping you to become well informed about your health is the goal of the Community Health Education Department and the Maino Community Heath Library. A variety of learning opportunities help you to be successful in achieving a healthy lifestyle. Health education classes are taught by registered dietitians, nurses, certified diabetes educators, and other health professionals. Day and evening classes are offered for a minimal fee or at no cost. Our mission is to improve the health of those we serve through education, self-management skills and lifestyle changes.

The Education Department administers various education, and employment and training programs. The function of the department is to further develop and improve the basic education skills of adult tribal members; upgrade and improve the academic performance of eligible Indian children; provide on-site work experience within tribal operations; and provide support for academic and technical training, and on the job training in the private sector for eligible participants. The Education Department administers several state and federal grants which include: Johnson O'Malley, Adult Education, Workforce Investment Act (WIA). Each program has specific guidelines a person must meet in order to participate.
