Located on the Cook Inlet, 70 miles southwest of Anchorage, Tesoro Alaska’s Kenai refinery can process up to 72, 000 barrels per day (bpd). The refinery produces ultra low sulfur gasoline, jet fuel, ultra low sulfur diesel (USLD), heating oil, heavy fuel oils, propane and asphalt. Crude oil is delivered by double-hulled tankers through Cook Inlet and Kenai Peninsula pipelines. A 71-mile, 40, 000 bpd common-carrier products pipeline transports jet fuel, gasoline and diesel to the Port of Anchorage and the Anchorage International Airport. Wholesale delivery occurs through terminals in Kenai, Anchorage, Fairbanks and Tesoro’s Nikiski dock. Tesoro operates 31 company-owned 2Go Tesoro retail stores throughout Alaska and has branding agreements with 54 independently-owned Tesoro Alaska stations.

It receives crude feedstock via pipeline from Canada and by tanker from Alaska and foreign sources. Headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, Tesoro operates seven refineries, wholesale and commercial marketing activities and a network of retail fuel stations. Tesoro’s seven refineries are located in Martinez, California; Wilmington, California; Anacortes, Washington; Kapolei, Hawaii; Kenai, Alaska; Mandan, North Dakota; and Salt Lake City, Utah. Combined, these facilities have a rated crude oil capacity of nearly 665, 000 barrels per day.

Tesoro’s Salt Lake City refinery began operations in 1908 and is now the largest in Utah with a total crude-oil capacity of 58, 000 barrels per day. The refinery processes crude oil from Utah, Colorado, Wyoming and Canada to manufacture gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, heavy fuel oils and liquefied petroleum gas. These products are distributed through a system of terminals and pipelines, primarily to high-growth markets in Utah, Idaho and eastern Washington, with some product delivered to Nevada and Wyoming. The refinery also supplies jet fuel to the Salt Lake City International Airport.

"Smiling" Jack Manning offered the first "Sudden Service" in the heating oil business with a 55-gallon barrel strapped to the back of his truck. In recent years, Wilcox & Flegel has continued to expand through acquisitions. We purchased Tetz Oil in 2000, Dephia Oil in 2001, Carmichael Oil in 2002, West Star Corporation and Cooper Oil in 2004, Guler Oil in 2005, Garwood Oil in 2006, and most recently, Seaside Service in 2007. We currently own and operate 13 convenience stores with gas, two truck stops with gas and stores, the Indy Way Diner restaurant, 30 cardlocks, 49 properties and 100 vehicles. At one time the company had only a driver, an office person, and Dad. Through hard work and summer road-oiling, the company survived and grew. In 1954, Art Flegel joined the company, which led to Wilcox & Flegel Fuel Oil Company and its slogan, "We Make Warm Friends."

Wilcox & Flegel, in relationship with US Ethanol, has installed an E85 pump at the brand-new Pacific Pride cardlock in Bingen, WA, at 117 East Steuben Street. E85 fuel is a blend of 15% gasoline and 85% ethanol. During the cold winter months, the blend drops down to 70% ethanol to aid cold engine starts. E85 in Bingen is available to Pacific Pride, Comdata, Wright Express, TCH, and Voyager cardholders. By the end of February, 2008, this pump will also be accessible by Visa and MasterCard holders. This new Pacific Pride was opened to the public on January 4, 2008, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Bingen Chamber of Commerce was held at noon on January 18, 2008.
