Drawing for me, is both a vehicle for understanding and a gestural act unto itself. Recording an experience via drawing embodies much more than an analytical intention. In fact, my drawings aren't very analytical. When I draw historic buildings, they are inacurate in many ways. My drawings are close, but they aren't about detail or proportion. They are about the spirit of a building or a place, and the spirit embedded in the encounter and its translation. Drawing is a way of taking on a place, absorbing it, immersing myself in it.

Crazy Penguins Gaming has opened in the Rockford area as a hot, new gaming center for the casual gamer. Our primary focus is creating a fun and energetic environment for the casual gamer to get together with freinds. One of the things we have learned as we have brought this facility to Rockford is that our gamers have been neglected. This is not an average game center, but a very modern and high energy facility. Since the inception of Rock Solid in 2004, we have seen many changes in the process of impacting lives. We have watched over 2500 children come through in 2004-2006. We believed we were quite content at our first location, only to watch God uproot us and move us to Riverside. During our two summers at Riverside, we watched the transformation of a Shreveport historical site, as well as experiencing the blessing of having over 5000 kids.. We have seen this past year 250 Special Olympic Athletes impacted, 40 Schumpert 5.2.1.0 childhood obesity and eating disorder children impacted, every Providence House child, as well as, 2400 All-American kids. We have given away over $300, 000 in subsidies since we began and have impacted 58 other non-profits. However, circumstances, which we believe God has ordained, have caused us to again move to something bigger and better.

Meet the Builder: Michael Bashkin - My love of guitar building grew out of my interest in wood. I began building guitars in 1994 during my graduate studies in forestry at Colorado State University. While subsequently teaching tropical forestry in Belize, Central America, I took the opportunity to hand select many of the unique woods which are featured in my guitars. Along the way, I had the opportunity to study with noted luthiers Ervin Somogyi and Harry Fleishman. My approach to guitar-building, emphasizing a seamless connection between aesthetics and functionality, has been influenced by the work of both these master builders. In 1998, I opened my shop in Fort Collins, Colorado, building guitars full-time.

Big Bends LLC was founded in 2001. In an "obsessive quest" to keep his guitars in tune, Jeff Massey (company founder) realized "friction" was the cause of virtually ALL tuning (pitch drift) problems. He found going out of tune while playing the guitar (or any stringed instrument) is almost always the direct consequence of "friction" acting upon the "fulcrum/pivot points of the floating bridge and the string bearing surfaces of the bridge, nut and string guides.

In the late 1970s, the clear, full and powerful SWR bass sound existed only in the mind of company founder Steve W. Rabe. He simply thought that bass amps should sound better, and he envisioned a bass sound that would satisfy the needs of professional players at the highest level. He visited studios, asking the pros working in Los Angeles what they thought. “They all just pointed their fingers at the studio monitors and said, ‘Make a bass amp sound like that, ‘cause that’s what a bass is supposed to sound like, ’" Rabe said. "So that meant hi-fi, clean, full range.” With that ideology, SWR was born. The SWR sound was brought to life after a painstakingly long research process in which designers tried out many different electronic circuits for the preamp, the tone circuit, the power amp and everything in between.
