With the availability of cattle, Gully Ranch supplies over 30, 000 head of cattle to cutting horse events during the year, the largest being a corporation called The Abilene Spectacular Cutting Event. This event began in 1993 when Carolyn saw a need to bring an event of this type to the city of Abilene. It has grown to be one of the largest in the Cutting Industry today. This event is always held the first two weeks of the year, beginning on January 1st. This cutting event is totally run by the family members of the Gully Ranch. Carolyn, Coleta, and Ginger run the promotion and operation of the event, while Pat keeps the activities with the cattle under control. This event along with a 5 day circuit started by the Gully's in 1983 lasts 17 days and brings millions of dollars to the West Texas town of Abilene. Gully Ranch is located in a mountain area, covered with live oaks and cedar trees. Wildlife is seen every day. Deer, turkey, porcupines, birds and snakes are very common.

My specialty areas are: horse problems, teaching Natural Horsemanship, and helping horse owners to have a deeper and more productive relationship with their horse. The method I use and teach is Natural Horsemanship (NH), sometimes called Horse Whispering. From studying with and learning from a great many natural horsemanship masters, and practicing NH in the training of hundreds of horses for many years, I have honed a training philosophy that is simple: horse handling and riding should be safe and enjoyable, and horse training should be gentle, but effective. Learning from all the great NH trainers has created in my training repertoire a large, effective collection of Natural Horsemanship training techniques to refer to in helping horse owners solve any horse problem.

A lifelong horse gal, she works in Oakhurst, California near Yosemite National Park. Maple Spring Bed & Breakfast, completely remodeled in 2001 with modern amenities, was an early settlers' house, originally built in the late 1700's to early 1800's. It was used as a home until the main brick farmhouse, adjacent to it, was built, circa 1850. During the remodeling process, careful attention was given to retain much of its original charm and character, including the brick walk-in fireplace. The southern view overlooks a spring-fed pond and pasture, which our resident horses, Tommy and Comanche, enjoy all summer long. You can also enjoy miles of scenic fertile Lancaster County farmland as you watch farmers busy preparing and caring for their fields, crops and animals. If you listen carefully, you might hear the sounds of roosters crowing and chickens cackling on a neighboring farm. And speaking of animals, we enjoy caring for our own farm pets, Lacey, our dog, and Bunny and Nellie, our daughters' pet rabbits.
