Ted Hebert began Teddy Bear Pools in 1975, operating out of his family's house in East Springfield. When he started, there were only four employees. The company sold, installed, repaired and serviced in-ground and above-ground pools. Teddy Bear is a play on the French pronunciation of Ted Hebert. (It was also Ted's nickname as a young child!) When his mother first suggested it as a business name, Ted was not convinced it was really appropriate. After thinking it over, he realized that the Teddy Bear symbol was friendly and family-oriented, a good representation of a business that was centered around home and family; it was easy to remember and very friendly so he incorporated under the name Teddy Bear Pools.

It all started with a pregnant pig in Corona. When Luz and Jesus Cardenas traded some tools for a sow 25 years ago, they had no idea the pig was expecting. But that gave the couple a head start on a thriving hog farm and that, in turn lead to a thriving supermarket chain with over 1, 100 employees based in Ontario, California. Cardenas Markets now has twelve locations in Ontario, Montclair, Moreno Valley, Pomona, Fontana, Rialto, Colton, San Jacinto and Riverside. Six of those were added since June of 2000 and in 2004 Cardenas Markets will add a store in Rubidoux. In the fall of 1981 after several years of dealing with the tough economic conditions of the Northeast, Arthur and Marie D’Attile along with their 19 year old son Gregg made a fateful decision to move to South Florida. Art following in his father's foot steps, being a union plumber for 25 years and constructing many schools, churches, hospitals, office buildings, and apartments, including The Worlds Fair, in and around Brooklyn, N.Y. and Marie having raised a family of two children, decided a new beginning was in order. Arrangements were made, the house was sold, the truck was loaded and on January 9, 1983 they arrived in Coral Springs, Florida. During that same year Art took and passed his Broward County Master Plumbers License and on August 15, 1983, Gregg, Arthur and Marie D’Attile formed Art Plumbing, Inc. a State of Florida corporation.
