Genital herpes is a disease caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV-1). Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) usually causes oral herpes. Symptoms are commonly known as cold sores or fever blisters. In the past, HSV-1 was not known to cause genital herpes, but that is changing, especially among people who begin having sex at a young age. Type 2 (HSV-2) usually causes genital herpes. When it's active, it travels to the surface of the infected area and makes copies of itself, this is called shedding. It is during this time that the virus can rub off onto another person. Then the virus travels back down the nerve, where it lies dormant for a while. Who Gets Genital Herpes? About one-fifth of all people aged 12 and up in the U.S. are infected with the HSV-2 virus that causes genital herpes, but as many as 90% don't know it. Experts estimate 50% to 80% of adults have oral herpes.

You can have hepatitis B and not know it. You may not have symptoms. If you do, they can make you feel like you have the flu. But as long as you have the virus, you can spread it to others. Sometimes the virus does not go away. This is called chronic hepatitis B. Over time, it can damage your liver. Babies and young children infected with the virus are more likely to get chronic hepatitis B. Hepatitis B is caused by the hepatitis B virus. It is spread through contact with the blood and body fluids of an infected person. You can get Hepatitis B if you: Have sex without using a condom. Share needles to inject drugs. HSV-1 is usually passed from person to person by kissing. HSV-1 can also spread from the mouth to the genitals during oral sex. If this happens, it becomes a case of genital herpes. HSV-2 is most often passed by vaginal sex and anal sex. But just as HSV-1 can infect the genitals and cause genital herpes, HSV-2 can pass from one person's genitals to another person's mouth, resulting in oral herpes. About one-fifth of all people aged 12 and up in the U.S. are infected with the HSV-2 virus that causes genital herpes, but as many as 90% don't know it. Experts estimate 50% to 80% of adults have oral herpes. One in four women compared with one in five men are infected with genital herpes. One reason may be that the virus can infect a woman's genitals more easily than it can a man's. It becomes more common as people age and the more sex partners people have.

The CBC and differential are a series of tests of the blood that provides a tremendous amount of information about the body's immune system. A CBC routinely includes RBC, WBC, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and platelet count among others. Both a urinalysis and a complete blood count provides an excellent indication of a person’s overall health. It is very rare that something can be going on in the body and it does not show up in the blood or the urine. A complete blood count (CBC) provides important information about the kinds and numbers of cells in the blood, especially red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. A CBC helps your health professional evaluate symptoms and diagnose conditions.
-
A CBC test usually includes: White blood cell (WBC, leukocyte) count. White blood cells protect the body against infection. If an infection develops, white blood cells attack and destroy the bacteria, virus, or other organism causing it. When a person has a bacterial infection, the number of white cells can increase dramatically. Red blood cell (RBC) count. Red blood cells carry oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body. They also carry carbon dioxide back to the lungs so it can be exhaled. If the RBC count is low (anemia), the body may not be getting the oxygen it needs. If the count is too high (a condition called polycythemia vera), there is a risk that the red blood cells will clump together and block tiny blood vessels (capillaries). Hematocrit (HCT, packed cell volume, PCV). This test measures the amount of space (volume) red blood cells occupy in the blood. The value is given as a percentage of red blood cells in a volume of blood.

Chlamydia is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases in the U.S. This infection is easily spread because it often causes no symptoms and may be unknowingly passed to sexual partners. In fact, about 75% of infections in women and 50% in men are without symptoms. If you do not get tested for chlamydia, you run the risk of several health problems. For women. If left untested, the infection can cause pelvic inflammatory disease which can lead to damage of the fallopian tubes or even cause infertility. For men. Chlamydia can cause a condition called nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) – an infection of the urethra, epididymitis – an infection of the epididymis or proctitis – an inflammation of the rectum.

A urinalysis test measures several different components of urine, a waste product made by the kidneys. A routine urine screening test may be done to help find the cause for many types of symptoms. The test can provide information about your overall health and clues to many conditions. The kidneys remove waste material, minerals, fluids, and other substances from the blood for elimination in the urine. Therefore, urine can contain hundreds of different bodily waste products. Many factors, such as diet, fluid intake, exercise, and kidney function, affect what is in your urine. More than 100 different tests can be done on urine. Total Urinary Analysis (UA) involves multiple routine tests on a urine specimen. A UA will routinely include color, appearance, and odor; pH; and presence of proteins, glucose, ketones, and blood. It is also examined microscopically for RBCs, WBCs, casts, crystals, and bacteria.
