Without them, there is no telling how many more dogs and cats would die each year. Dog rescuers and cat rescuers scan animal shelters constantly, looking for puppies and kittens of all ages whose time at the animal shelter has almost run out due to overcrowding, and giving them a second chance before they are euthanized. They all rely on volunteers and donations to keep their efforts going. Many rescues use a network of foster families, who keep pets for adoption in their own homes while they assess their personalities and often provide any necessary training. Rescues are very careful to make sure their adoptable dogs and cats go to the right homes.

He owned and operated the Dog & Cat Clinic until 1985 when it was purchased by the current owner/Veterinarian, Dr. Valri E. Brown, a 1982 graduate of Auburn University, Auburn Alabama. She is the daughter of Air Force parents during elementary and middle school years. Then during high school her father retired and they moved to Alabama, hence Dr. Brown attended Auburn University for her Veterinary training. Upon graduation she immediately moved to Louisiana where she did a 3 month internship for a veterinarian in Minden and then went to work for Dr. Franks. Three years later she purchased the practice!

Mt. Spokane Veterinary Hospital (Associated Veterinary group P.S.) has been in existence for over 90 years in the Spokane, Wa. area. First established around 1913, it was the first veterinary clinic in the region. In the 1930’s a facility was built near the stockyard, fairgrounds and Playfair racetrack where it remained in operation as Associated Veterinary Group PS until 2001.
