Cracks in the Pavement: Gifts in the Urban Landscape is a multi-phased, interactive project that calls attention to the “in-between” spaces encountered throughout everyday life. The project focuses on details within the urban landscape and encourages close inspection of our social space. This summer, artists based in locations around the world will respond to what they find in their urban environments by making art objects designed to be placed in sites that intrigue them—-at bus shelters, in alleys, under bridges, in libraries or post offices, or deep in park bushes. Members of the public are invited to search for these site-specific works using maps and clues provided at www.cracksinthepavement.com. Art works featured in Cracks in the Pavement may be kept by whoever finds them. Works not found will be allowed to remain in the landscape indefinitely to be encountered by chance, displaced, or transformed by the very environmental forces that define each piece's context.

Goodman Construction is a design-build swimming pool contractor. Chance works closely with his brother and designer Ty Goodman. Ty is a certified pool professional and will work with our clients and their budget to produce full working plans ready for submittal to the local building department. Included in the plans: site plan(pool shape and location), hydraulics, and pool equipment. Once the plans are finalized we send them out to bid and apply for a local building permit. If required, they are sent to engineering for a seal of approval at your given property location. Upon permit approval your pool is ready to be built.

This plein air workshop will instruct students in the process of creating a landscape painting at a coastal area in Santa Cruz County. Students will receive instruction in landscape composition, value patterns, color mixing, and paint application through presentations, demonstrations, and instruction at your easel. Prior painting experience helpful. First session, Sat Oct 30, we will meet at my studio. After a brief orientation, we'll walk to a nearby location to paint. We will meet at locations to be announced on the other 3 Saturday mornings. Students work on painting principles of composition, color, value and paint application. Michele demonstrates various stages in the painting process.

The Utah House (UH) project was developed from the grass roots out of concern for the environment. In 1996, Utah State University Extension sponsored a workshop and nearly one hundred people attended to discuss the possibility of building a demonstration home in Utah . The idea of creating the UH prompted enough synergy to motivate over 50 people to work on teams to make the vision of the UH become a reality. Volunteer teams were organized around marketing, education, fund raising, infrastructure, house design, and landscape design. Out of the volunteers, the executive team was formed. They worked for a year on creating the name, vision, and principles of the UH.
