Over 25 years ago, our founder started a one-man company brokering spare parts and marine equipment sales, just after signing off ships, where he spent several years as a marine chief engineer. The business and service he rendered was so enthusiastically welcomed by his clients that he was encouraged to hire more people, and to expand his business to help many local customers. Soon afterward, he realized there was something missing: international customers. If we were selling locally, why not internationally? So we started our Los Angeles office, and expanded our sales to U.S-brand engine spare parts for customers abroad. Customers, observing our honesty and skill in businesses, then encouraged us to enter the satellite communications business. Every new customer recommended us to another. Soon we became one of the leading airtime providers in our area.

Since 1966, The Nature Conservancy in Arizona has helped protect some of our state’s most significant land. Today, through purchase and partnership, the Conservancy has helped to protect more than 1.5 million acres in Arizona. We manage preserves throughout the state. At each place, we employ a range of strategies tailored to local circumstances. We buy land. We help other landowners manage their properties. We facilitate public-private partnerships. We engage the business community. We collaborate with like-minded partners. We seek pragmatic solutions. The Conservancy protects specific places where plant and animal species can survive for generations to come. Science guides our work by identifying Earth’s most important natural places. Currently, Wilson Oil has over 350 employees and offers an aggressive pension plan, medical insurance, disability coverage, and a bonus plan for all full-time fuel distribution employees. We can invoice and receive payments electronically, and will continue to grow our e-business services in the future. The roots of Wilson Oil, Inc., dba Wilcox & Flegel Fuel Oil Company, date back to 1925, when the City of Longview was formed. "Smiling" Jack Manning offered the first "Sudden Service" in the heating oil business with a 55-gallon barrel strapped to the back of his truck. In 1952, Manning Fuel sold to Steve S. Wilcox, Jr., my dad, who was financed by my grandfather, Steve S. Wilcox. The early days were very lean, and seven Chevron heating fuel jobbers were competing with each other. At one time the company had only a driver, an office person, and Dad. Through hard work and summer road-oiling, the company survived and grew. In 1954, Art Flegel joined the company, which led to Wilcox & Flegel Fuel Oil Company and its slogan, "We Make Warm Friends."
