Business hours: Monday: 8-5:30; Tuesday: 8-4:45; Wednesday: 7-4:45; Thursday: 8-5:30; Friday: 8-4:45. The scope of our practice ranges from managing the annoyance of nasal allergies to the treatment of life-threatening allergic reactions and lung diseases (and everything in between). We understand that simple nasal symptoms are often not so simple. There are few conditions that can impact your quality of daily life more than allergic-based diseases. Studies show that people suffering from nasal allergies don’t sleep well, don’t do as well at work and school, have more sinus infections and headaches and have a lower quality of life, in general, than those without allergies. Our patients are frequently amazed by how much better they can feel with aggressive management of their allergies. Most people don’t know how much can be done and many assume that they must just live with their symptoms.

Originally founded in Brighton, MA, Bambú Clinic in Portland arose out of a collaboration between Dr. Asmar and Drs. Kaufmann, Senders and Thom. After graduating from the National College of Natural Medicine in 2003, Dr. Asmar began practicing in a small naturopathic clinic in Vancouver, WA. Simultaneously, though, she dreamed of opening a clinic of her own where her philosophy of health optimization could come to life with other like-minded physicians. In the spirit of this ideal, she left her infant practice in June 2005 to take a residency position with Dr. Dickson Thom, her mentor and colleague.

It targets neuronal nicotinic receptors, or NNRs. rom 1997 to 2000, we were a subsidiary of R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company (RJR), part of a Fortune 100 consumer products company where scientists studied the chemistry and biology of nicotine. During our incubation within RJR, our researchers published hundreds of scientific papers and abstracts. Many of the publications focused on neuronal nicotinic receptors (NNRs), a unique class of molecular targets in the body that maintain and adjust central nervous system (CNS) activity. We became independent in August 2000 in a spinout hailed in the Harvard Business Review as a Best Practice.
