For more than 200 years, Raleigh, North Carolina's capital city, had no repository for its historical artifacts, no place to preserve its past, and no institution to educate its citizens and visitors about the city's rich heritage. That all changed in 1993 when the Raleigh City Museum opened its first exhibit. The Raleigh City Museum, a private non-profit organization, grew out of the dream of Raleigh historian Beth Crabtree and after Beth's death, the vision and perseverance of Mary Cates. It was in 1990 that Mary Cates began bringing together a group of advocates for a Raleigh City Museum.

With public and private partners, we have protected 750, 000 acres in Texas. We work collaboratively with landowners, businesses, institutions, government agencies, communities, individuals and other non-profit organizations. Together, we seek non-confrontational, pragmatic, market-based solutions to conservation challenges.

Although all modes of transportation were represented, the Museum focused on telling the story of Roanoke’s rich rail heritage. In 1976, a private non-profit corporation was established to operate the Museum, and in 1983 the Museum was designated as the Official Transportation Museum of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Subsequently, the Museum was renamed the Virginia Museum of Transportation.

    In response to an overwhelming request for additional guest rooms, the Berman's purchased a second Victorian Style house in Adamstown, Pennsylvania - the Amethyst Inn Bed and Breakfast. This structure dates from 1830's with the most recent additions during the 1870's. Tom and Wanda are painstakingly restoring both the interior and exterior. They have chosen to clad the exterior of the Amethyst Inn in seven colors creating their second Victorian Painted Lady in Lancaster County, PA.

The company was formally incorporated in 1987 in the State of Illinois, USA. The United States Patent and Trademark Office granted Patent number: 1, 564, 435 on November 7, 1989. The ISE Card is the only student identification card to attain this accreditation and protection. Initially, ISE Cards were issued only to American students traveling overseas. By the late 1980's ISE Cards were also issued in Asia, followed by South and Central America, the Middle East, Europe, Canada, Australia and South Africa. Today, the ISE Card is sold in over 50 countries around the world.
