JDRF is the only organization of its kind devoted to finding a cure for adults and children living with type 1 diabetes. We concentrate our support on advancing the most promising work of researchers, scientists, physicians, academic medical centers, and more across the globe. Our dedication to finding a cure focuses not just on this long-term need, but also on improving everyone's life today by working to reduce the life-threatening aspects of diabetes and providing emotional support and practical resources for the day-to-day issues surrounding the disease.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is the worldwide leader for research to cure type 1 diabetes. It sets the global agenda for diabetes research, and is the largest charitable funder and advocate of diabetes science worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly, and can be fatal. Until a cure is found, people with type 1 diabetes have to test their blood sugar and give themselves insulin injections multiple times or use a pump each day, every day of their lives. And even with that intensive care, insulin is not a cure for diabetes, nor does it prevent its eventual and devastating complications, which may include kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, stroke, and amputation.

More than 80 percent of JDRF's expenditures directly support research and research-related education. We spearheaded breakthrough science in pursuit of devices, technologies, and potential therapies that will help people control their diabetes, keeping them healthier and complications-free until we find a cure. Our groundbreaking continuous glucose monitor research the first step in our journey to build an artificial pancreas not only generated excitement in the scientific community (and was named one of the top research advances of the year by ABC News), but also led to increased insurance reimbursement for CGM devices by most every major insurer. We catapulted the field of regenerative medicine to the forefront in diabetes research, creating momentum for more researchers to pursue this science with discovery after discovery of the regeneration and expansion capabilities of insulin-producing cells.

Since 1966, The Nature Conservancy in Arizona has helped protect some of our state’s most significant land. Today, through purchase and partnership, the Conservancy has helped to protect more than 1.5 million acres in Arizona. We manage preserves throughout the state. At each place, we employ a range of strategies tailored to local circumstances. We buy land. We help other landowners manage their properties. We facilitate public-private partnerships. We engage the business community. We collaborate with like-minded partners. We seek pragmatic solutions. The Conservancy protects specific places where plant and animal species can survive for generations to come. Science guides our work by identifying Earth’s most important natural places. Using innovative tools, we work to protect and restore these priority sites. We call these areas the Last Great Places.

ANSI is also actively engaged in accrediting programs that assess conformance to standards – including globally-recognized cross-sector programs such as the ISO 9000 (quality) and ISO 14000 (environmental) management systems.
