The concept pairs instructional art with friends, wine and a lively instructor to produce individual works of art. With four Greater New Orleans Area Corks N Canvas™ locations, the company began franchising the business as Painting with a Twist in 2009. To date 18 franchise locations have been sold all over the state of Louisiana as well as in Florida and Texas. Headquartered in Mandeville, the company maintains the artwork copy rights and brand direction of the franchise locations to insure that every location produces the same fun experience by which the company was founded on. The partnering nonprofits have included St. Francis Animal Sanctuary, the Al Copeland Foundation, Leaps & Bounds Sports Center and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Corks N Canvas™ is one of the largest employers of aspiring artists. The company recognized early on that the talents and enthusiasm of the staff were key elements to the success of the product. In just three years, Corks N Canvas™, along with the 21 franchise locations, has produced and owns the copy right to over 500 pieces of art. The collection of Corks N Canvas™ artwork was completed by approximately 50 instructors. Each artwork was conceptualized and executed by the instructors with the idea of being an easy to follow piece of art for the inexperienced painter. The artwork ranges from landscapes, abstracts and cityscapes, to creative renderings of seafood, animals, iconic buildings and florals. Because the company owners were both fundraisers in their previous positions, they have maintained that a core value of the company is to be an active member of the community and to focus on giving back. With this in mind, Paint with a Purpose was created.

Elaine Hahn, a native of Kansas City, Missouri, holds a BA and MA in Art from the University of Missouri, and has studied with noted artists throughout the United States, England and Mexico. Her early career was influenced by her experience at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City. Elaine Hahn is a Signature member of the American Watercolor and the National Watercolor Societies. She is also a Signature member of the Florida Plein Air Society and a member of the Oil Painters of America. Her paintings have achieved prominence through acceptance and awards in major national juried exhibitions. Her works are included in private and corporate collections throughout the United States. She has taught and conducted Workshops in the US and Europe and has served as a judge in Art Shows on the local, regional and national levels.

This plein air workshop will instruct students in the process of creating a landscape painting at a coastal area in Santa Cruz County. Students will receive instruction in landscape composition, value patterns, color mixing, and paint application through presentations, demonstrations, and instruction at your easel. Prior painting experience helpful. First session, Sat Oct 30, we will meet at my studio. After a brief orientation, we'll walk to a nearby location to paint. We will meet at locations to be announced on the other 3 Saturday mornings. Students work on painting principles of composition, color, value and paint application. Michele demonstrates various stages in the painting process.

In 1977, brothers, John and Mike Lesczinski purchased Rochester Art Supply Inc, their family business. The retail store specialized in high quality artist materials. Therefore, committed to providing the best art supplies available, Mike began to introduce many new brands to the store shelves. He added brands like Gamblin, Golden, Escoda, Mussini, Blockx, and a lesser known brand of encaustic paints called Mrs. Appletree's Studio Encaustic Wax Paints. Intrigued by the potential of encaustic, Mike and John decided to buy the encaustic manufacturing company from its creator, Ann Huffman, in 1996. Not only we're they excited to get involved in manufacturing, but they also saw an opportunity for growth in this unique medium. The first step as owners was to rename the company, Enkaustikos. This was the greek word for "to burn in"...perfectly fitting given these paints need to be heated in order to use.

I am an artist and landscape painter whose paintings depict the beauty of the western United States - its mountains, rugged coast, creeks, rivers, valleys, deserts, rockscapes, farmlands, orchards, and vineyards. I also paint wherever I travel and am showing some paintings from France and Greece. Many of my landscape paintings are painted "en plein air", or outside on location.
